Sales Administrator
SALES ADMINISTRATOR
Gauteng | Steel & Mining
We are looking for an experienced Sales Administrator who brings both strong internal sales capability and excellent administration skills.
This is a hands-on commercial role where you will manage customer relationships, prepare and follow up on quotations, close sales and identify opportunities to grow existing accounts — while ensuring the administration behind every sale is accurate and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage internal sales and customer enquiries from quotation through to order.
• Prepare, send and follow up on quotations, converting opportunities into sales.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships and identify opportunities for additional sales.
• Process sales orders accurately, including checking pricing, product details and availability.
• Manage invoicing, sales tracking and the full range of day-to-day sales administration.
• Coordinate with internal teams, including warehouse and logistics, to ensure orders are processed and delivered efficiently.
• Follow up on outstanding orders, deliveries and customer queries.
• Resolve customer issues and ensure a high level of service throughout the sales process.
• Maintain accurate customer records, sales documentation and reporting.
• Support the sales team with general commercial and administrative requirements.
Requirements
• Completed Matric / Grade 12
• Proven experience in internal sales, with a track record of closing sales and upselling.
• Strong sales administration experience, including quoting, invoicing and sales tracking.
• Previous experience within mining, steel, manufacturing or construction.
• Must be working knowledge of Pastel or similar
• Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Prioritise:
• Must-have requirements first.
• Actual internal sales experience, including closing, upselling and customer relationship management.
• Actual sales administration experience: quoting, invoicing, orders, tracking and follow-up.
• Relevant industry/sector experience. Distinguish direct sector experience from adjacent experience.
• Education and required systems/software.
• Location suitability.
• Employment longevity, including short stays, contracts and gaps.
• Never assume experience that is not stated on the CV. If something is unclear, mark it as “not evidenced” rather than assuming the candidate has it.
• Identify what matches, what is missing and what needs to be verified in an interview.
